Each year, the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), collects, analyzes and reports on sales in the industry. In 2022, the Promotional Products Industry reached $25.5 billion for the first time ever! And that was a 15.6% increase in sales over 2021. The previous record for the industry was $24.7 billion in sales back in 2018. These numbers suggest that promo is no longer just rebounding from the pandemic, but now growing. They found the healthy return of small businesses, like Magellan Promotions, played a major role in that growth.
One of the key areas of growth in the promotional products industry is in sustainable products, which increased nearly 20% from 2021. Going forward, longer-lasting sustainable products will continue to play an increasingly important role. Even though sometimes they come at a higher price point, buyers and consumers are finding that the extra investment is worth it.
The Magellan team saw many of these sustainable items at the PPAI Expo in Las Vegas in January. Some of the favorites were the Used Coffee Grounds & Plastic Water Bottles Shirt, Recycled Cable Knit Beanie and the Environment Paper Mailer. Magellan also has an entire eco-friendly showroom dedicated to our environmentally friendly products plus items made from recycled materials. For more than 50 years, PPAI has been collecting, analyzing and reporting distributor sales, and this study is considered the most definitive and comprehensive of its kind in the industry, useful in understanding the current landscape for promotional products companies and as a potential tool in any attempts to try to prepare for the future.
