The Challenge
In a typical year, University of West Florida (UWF) graduates in their 50th reunion year, called “Golden Graduates,” are invited to participate in the fall graduation ceremonies. With ceremonies being held virtually in 2020, the Alumni Relations team at UWF had to get creative to find a way to help them celebrate this major milestone.
It was important to the Alumni Relations team to ensure these graduates maintained their strong connection with the university even from a distance.
The Solution
UWF wanted to induct their alumni into the Golden Graduates in a way that would be tangible, create a positive experience, and demonstrate the university’s appreciation, all while being able to reach them all over the country.
The Alumni Relations team at UWF worked with Magellan to create a custom package for the Golden Graduates that would be memorable from beginning to end.
It started with a branded bubble mailer, designed in a way that would create a sense of excitement from the moment recipients opened their mailbox.
Inside the mailer was a personalized, custom-printed golden certificate signed by the University President and the chair of the Board of Trustees to each Golden Graduate. The certificate was designed to show off their special 50 year milestone and was placed in a branded frame so they could display their certificate proudly.
Also included in the package was a garden flag to allow alumni to display their school spirit, all while further enhancing brand awareness.
Finally, a custom insert card was included, inviting them to attend the 2021 graduation ceremony. This invitation gives them an opportunity to be a part of the ceremony they missed out on in 2020, a further way to show these alumni their appreciation.
In addition to producing each of these thoughtful items, the team at Magellan assembled the packages and managed the process of mailing them to each individual recipient on behalf of UWF. By kitting and mailing the items, Magellan helped ensure the packages arrived in a timely fashion, became a one stop solution for the project, thus simplifying this fun initiative for the UWF Alumni Relations team.
The Outcome
Through this project, the Alumni Relations team at UWF was able to reach over 820 alumni and ensure they felt recognized and appreciated for the legacy they built over the 50 years since they graduated. Several alumni wrote letters to the University President thanking her and expressing their gratitude and excitement about the packages.
