Challenge
While planning a virtual 50th class reunion, the University of Iowa College of Law was exploring ways they could engage, honor, and continue building relationships with alumni.
They needed a solution that would elicit positive emotions about the college so that each former student could reminisce about their time there and feel connected to the university.
They also needed a solution that would be unique to this class.
Solution
Since the reunion would be held virtually, the team at Magellan promotions worked with the alumni relations and events team at the University of Iowa College of Law to find a solution that would provide engagement even from a distance.
The package they put together included:
- A branded box mailer
- This full-color mailable box included a historical photo of a campus scene, instantly bringing back memories of their time at the school.
- A custom puzzle
- Not only was the puzzle a great option for creating engagement, they also personalized it by making a clever yearbook-style design featuring images of each member of that year’s class both on the 150-piece puzzle itself and on the branded box it came in.
- A branded paperweight
- A beautiful paperweight that would be a statement piece on the recipients’ desks, adorned with their school and graduation year, as well as a statement of appreciation from the school.
Outcome & Feedback
This thoughtful set of promotional products worked as a reminder of the school, helping current alumni donors celebrate their support, while also continuing to provide them with a sense of pride and belonging with their alma mater.
The virtual celebration package generated a lot of positive feedback. In fact, the alumni team reports that recipients felt it was “such a fun and personal way to honor our class” and that the class photo puzzle definitely helped them achieve their goal of making the classmates feel special for their 50th reunion year.
