Challenge:
As in-person classes were cancelled in 2020, with them went large gatherings like college graduation ceremonies. DePauw University wanted to find a way to provide their newest alumni with a positive experience amidst a tumultuous end to their college career.
DePauw wanted to find a way to show their new alumni that they were still cared for and valued using a mailed gift of engaging, on-trend items that new graduates would appreciate.
Solution:
The team at Magellan Promotions helped DePauw develop a fully-branded graduation pack that included fun products that new alumni could easily show off, including a DePauw University license plate holder, a key ring, and socks.
The package also included two congratulatory letters, one from faculty and staff, and the other from their Graduates of the Last Decade Board. These letters helped further advance their connection with the university and encourage graduates to maintain their connection long after graduation.
Even the box it arrived in was branded in full color, using an image of a well-known campus building to help maintain their connection to the campus – even from home.
Outcome & Feedback:
During a time when many graduating seniors were naturally feeling like they had missed out on typical college milestones, DePauw’s package helped forge a connection at a very important time for these new alumni. It provided them with a positive, albeit unique, experience to signal the end of their college career.
The graduation pack was a hit amongst graduates, with many of them sending personal notes of appreciation to the President’s Office and sharing images and pride about DePauw on social media.
